Non Profit & Public Sector
Non profits and government are on one hand under intense scrutiny and pressure to defend and justify how funds are being used to meet the objectives and on the other hand under competitive pressure to raise funds from the same pools.
To help meet these challenges non profits and governments are increasingly turning to business practices to address key questions:
- Evaluating effectiveness of programs
- Understanding impact, ROIs and social benefits/costs
- Effectiveness in driving new members or funding
- Organisational Capability Building
Case Study Improving Armed Forces Recruiting
Situation
A volunteer based national army was experienced increasing gaps in recruitment numbers at a time when the armed forces required additional manpower resulting from involvement in a range of global conflicts. The recruitment command needed to identify the key drivers of recruitment and articulate a plan and proposed budget to alleviate the recruitment shortfall.
Approach:
Ninah modeling experts worked in close collaboration with the army marketing and recruitment teams to build predictive models and forecasting tools to help the army understand the key impact of both drivers within army control as well as exogenous drivers such as PR and seasonality.
Results
As a result of understanding the negative impact of PR the organization was able to recommend budget levels required to mitigate the effect. Additionally optimization of the budget allocation and centralization of resources realized cost savings of 7%. Resulting recruitment levels from the revised program increased 9% year over year and several recruiting centers saw the highest levels of inquiries since WW2.
